Today I am working from home, a bit of a mistake it turns out as I've used my download limit for the month and my internet is running at dial up speed. Even though I rang and purchased an "afterburner" this morning is hasn't kicked in. I'm now late for the web conference because its still downloading the elluminate application. Next time I'll find a quiet spot at the institute.
However, I have managed to continue working on the research outline/overview document and have uploaded it to http://my.tafe.qld.gov.au/janison.controls/doclib/download.aspx?ID=954f990c-cc12-4262-b86a-80914799ddd7
I have spoken to a couple of colleagues this week about the content writers templates that I'm going to work on for this project. One concern that was raised was the format or tool that will be used as part of our development process. Wimba Create/Course Genie (CG) is what we have been using and there has been discussion in the team about its end of life status and where to go from there. In those discussions one key point was that our content writers, regardless of technical knowledge will be able to use Microsoft Word. I also have the viewpoint that the tool we ultimately use, while not irrelevant should be able to adapt to the templates I create. Therefore, I will use the CG styles in a Word document for the templates. This also allows continuity for existing content writers, instructional designers and multimedia technicians.
After our face to face conference I spoke to my sponsor, and related the value and worth of the two days and passed on the screen cast o matic tool to a couple of others in our team/institute. I have also added Carolyn's email address to blogger so a copy of each post is sent to her.
I am confident I'm working well on Colleen's March to do list and will update my March action plan to reflect the list before Monday.
Signing off blogger for now, finally got logged onto the web conference. More updates next week!!
Hi David good to see that some of that information from the workshop is already adding vlaue to yuour colleagues ala screen castomatic. A good example of how a leading practitioner in your area can really add value to an organisation by undertaking pd programs such as this. I am absolutely sure you have some great ideas, skills, knowledge and tips that you could share with this learning community, so I look forward to seeing how the buddy and coaching process within this group develops. Thanks for sharing with us here:)
